About the event
This event is based off of the following article: An Invitation to Act on the Value of Self-Care: Being a Whole Person in All That You Do (Fiebig et. al 2020)
The learning objective of this event is to identify self-care practices and reflections to safeguard ourselves and each other from experiencing burnout. These self-care practices help us align our values with our professional lives as well as provide restorative energy to renew our work. We will also talk about how taking care of yourself is a necessary foundation to effective supervision, and why we have to "put on our own oxygen mask first".
Discussion Questions:
- How do you experience burnout? The article mentions evaluating your response to trying new things: have you felt a change in yourself during times you've been more stressed?
- How have you defined self-care in the past? How have you been able to execute self-care?
- Does this article change your perspective on self-care? What steps forward are you looking to take to protect yourself and improve your practices?
